Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

Now I閳ユ獡 not an American, but I got introduced into the whole weave thing because I閳ユ獡 a fan of beyonce. Anyway I just wanted to know why black woman wear hair weave. Now i know not every single black woman has weave. But for those who have. Is it because African American hair is harder to style? Or is it because they want strait hair because it閳ユ獨 easier for woman to style, or do they want it because it閳ユ獨 just simply strait?. Please answer and help me out, OPEN to all answers. Thanks

Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

I myself am an african/native american female (with curly hair), and I don't wear hair extension... but to answer the question you asked the majority of AA women choose to wear extensions in hopes of accomplishing a new look (change of color, texture, or length) as well as the benifit of promoting hair growth and reducing the damaging effects of placing heat or harsh chemicals to the natural hair. Have a nice day!

Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

For many reasons you go shopping, for many reasons you go to different restaurants weekly, for every time you go on a vacation. Meaning they wear it because they have a choice! Do you really think women of other nationalities aren't making the same choice? Search the NET PEOPLE! Report It

Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

Many races wear weave, even whites wear weave! Not only do black women wear it weave is everywhere lol Report It

Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

Just by what I observed by living in the city, I noticed many African Americans hair is short, broken, and brittle from trying to get their hair combed out. I think they get weave so that they can have style and not have short, broken, fried hair.

Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

They want to have hair that looks as good as the races that don't have nappy, hard to style and takes forever to grow out hair.

Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

i think that it is a symbolism of their culture. not all african americans were born in africa, but the culture of hair weaving came from there. one of my friends said that it was easier for them to maintain their hair and scalps if they had it in weaves than if they didn't. plus she said that she doesn't wash her hair everyday because that would cause the hair to become really brittle, and would need the natural oils to stay in the follicles.

Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

I'm not an African woman, however, I do have friends who have very kinky African hair and braiding is just a way of keeping it tame so it doesn't turn into a big afro. All the reasons you suggested are valid reasons why some women choose to braid their hair so you're on the right track.

Some African women just braid the root of their hair because it is very hard to keep it in place since it so kinky and that makes it easier to style the rest of the hair.

Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

Im not saying this to be rude...and sorry if it seems ignorant...but i think its just because they want good hair????... other races wear weaves to but its for diff reasons...like to get thicker hair...so every race wears it for diff reasons and even sometimes the same reasons...thicker...longer...or just nicer..hair...

Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

Well a lot of Af Am's lack proper hair care and feel that their hair "wont grow".. well anyone applying heat to their hair on a daily basis will not have any hair. LOL. I wore weave before, years ago and have found that I am better off without it. Unless you have proper care of your weave, you can definitely end up damaging your real hair.

Musicians, like Beyonce, wear weave to protect their hair. They have to change their hairstyles so much, it is better to have a weave or wear a wig than to burn out the hair.

Weave can be easier to handle than your regular hair to maintain. But it could also be just as much work BLENDing the natural hair with the texture of the weave. I feel women want to have long, hair in general and refer to a weave to accomplish that want..

Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

no, your wrong. most african americans don't have straight hair, actually, most of them have kinky fizzy hair. that type of hair is much harder to maintain, being more sensitive and easy to breakage whenever it's washed or styled. hair weaving for them causes their hair to be easier to maintain-not needing to wash it properly, comb, and change style frequently, and it's stylish for their culture. (by the way, hair weave is when you braid all the hair into bunches of strands, if you meant african americans wanting to have their to become straight, it's called hair straightening or rebonding.) and yes straight hair is also easier to maintain and probably more stylish than hair weaving. that's why it's also preferable to them.

Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

We as AA women wear our hair in weaves and extensions for various reasons. But it seems to me that most of the people answering are not even AA. The reason is the same as why other cultures like to see their hair in a different style. We like change as well! Other races wear weaves as well, should the question be that those races just wanna look like us?

Why do African American woman wear hair weave?

Women..in general, wear weaves for different reasons. Beyonce wears a weave because she has a very active lifestyle. She wants to protect her own hair from the harmful affects of frequent hair style changes. African American or African women have the STRONGEST hair on the planet when it hasn't been damaged by styling products and excessive straightening or heat . So...with that said...WEARING A WEAVE IS MERELY BY CHOICE...NO MATTER WHAT NATIONALITY.
