Thinning hair after weave removed?

my hair had medium thickness before I started getting weaves. I got weaves back to back for nearly a year and inbetween weaves I would get a relaxer. Now that I have decided to remove the weave I have noticed that my hair is very fine. It looks like I have a lot of hair coming from my scalp but it's just all very thin. Now the last couple of times I also burned my scalp with my lye relaxer. Could this thinning be from the weave or from the lye relaxer. I don't plan on getting anymore weaves and I'm praying that my hair will thicken up in about a month. Has anyone else experienced a problem like mine... if so what happened in your scenerio?

It could have been a combination of things. Weaves, especially sewn in weaves can be kind of damaging. Black hair was not meant to continuously go through weaves, your hair needs a break from it every now and then. You need to give your hair a rest from all the stuff you've been doing to it. Hold off on using the relaxers and see if you can start using some styles that require little maintenance. I had a sewn in weave myself and my hair came out just like what you are describing. I had really thick hair but it started to thin out after taking the weave out. I had to take really good care of it to get it back to what it used to be. I deep conditioned it every week and started using pin on hair pieces for a low maintenance hairstyle that didn't involve me constantly combing, brushing and using heat in my hair. Luckily, my hair went back to what it used to be. Good luck with your hair and I'm sorry that you are going through this.

It could be because of both. You can get hair loss from the weave pulling on your hair constantly and the chemicals in the relaxer. I think you should go natural for a while to let your hair and scalp rest.

dont use anything like that, just wash your hair, pat it with a towel, blow dry and ur done... the stuff ur using damages ur hair, if u want ur hair thicker go to a nutrients store and ask them for hair thinning pills..

Thinning hair after weave removed?

This is a common problem with hair weaves. Its because when your hair is in a weave there is very little oxygen getting to your hair. Less oxygen means less fullness. You should give your hair a bit of a break between weaves, give your hair time to breathe so to speak :p
